Would you like to learn more about the Catholic Church

Have you ever thought about becoming Catholic?

Or perhaps you were Baptized Catholic but did not receive all of the Sacraments?

If your answer to any of these questions is “yes,” our Rite of Christian initiation for Adults (RCIA) program may be just what you need.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, RCIA , is a process of spiritual and educational formation open to any adult who wants to explore the possibility of becoming a full member of the Catholic Church, or who is 18 years or older and interested in Adult Confirmation. Each year, our parish welcomes people from a variety of faith backgrounds into the Church through RCIA.

Baltimore Catechism

To receive Holy Communion worthily it is necessary to be free from mortal sin, to have a right intention, and to obey the Church's laws on the fast required before Holy Communion out of reverence for the body and blood of Our Divine Lord. “Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily, will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.” (1Co 11,27)

St. John Crysostom

“I too raise my voice, I beseech, beg and implore that no one draw near to this sacred table with a sullied and corrupt conscience. Such an act, in fact, can never be called ‘communion,’ not even were we to touch the Lord’s body a thousand times over, but ‘condemnation,’ ‘torment,’ and ‘increase of punishment.”

Fr Michael Mueller

Listen once more to the words of St. Paul and tremble: “He who eats of this bread and drinks of this chalice unworthily, eats and drinks judgment to himself!” What an expression! Eats and drinks judgment to himself! His own condemnation! That is to say, his condemnation penetrates his innermost being. It incorporates itself with him; it flows in his veins; it becomes one flesh, one blood, one being with him.”

St. Augustine of Hippo

"No one should approach the sacrament of the Eucharist without being at peace with his neighbor. Those who receive in the state of mortal sin bring condemnation upon themselves."

St. Thomas Aquinas

"He who receives the Eucharist in mortal sin receives the sacrament of damnation."

St. John Vianney

"To receive Communion unworthily is to give our Lord the kiss of Judas."

St. Cyril of Alexandria

"Whoever, therefore, approaches the dread Mysteries with a pure conscience, will draw near in a manner befitting the divine gift, and will partake of the heavenly food."
